shaman's thoughts and ramblings on a Serious keeper league...
I like "my" guys like Arenas and Marion and I would love to have them every year (who wouldn't love to have those two?). I think having one to three keepers would add an interesting element to our league. I wouldn't mind having one, two, or maybe even three, but I think we should definitely go no more than three. If we do three or more keepers, I think we might see a dynasty or two built and some owners might lose interest. Each year is new, so I want everyone to start out feeling like they have a chance. Personally, I think two keepers is right on because I don't want to de-value the importance of the draft (this is fantasy hoops and the draft SHOULD be important). I am open to the serious playa winds.

A keeper league will open up some other questions as well. How will we keep up with owners and keepers? How will we draft? How will we determine draft order after year one? How will we deal with keepers whose owner doesn't return?
Any more questions you guys can think of?

what is the difference between free and paid, i wonder? and we should really focus on one league, keeper or no. two keepers is a pretty tame deal, so if anyone has qualms about the "keeper" league we can play this league like it's the real deal and reevaluate the "keeper" and "league" aspect for next season. if people want, there's no reason we can't start from scratch next year. or keep the two players. whatever.
but what is teh difference, shaman? what are we giving up?
i just checked with the dudes at CBS. it seems there's no difference whatever. Just the "level of competition", i.e. if dudes pay, they are more inclined to be engaged and compete. yeah right. let's fill this sucker up. there are 8 owners right now. with nicky and "kloos," that's ten. we'll need two more serious owners. call your cousins, your bros, your coworkers, etc. let's get two more serious playas.
i advocate one league and one league only. and if we're trying for "keeper style", let's "bite the bullet" and say three keepers. as i said in another comment, if we don;t want to persist with the keeper league next year, we'll simply start from scratch. no big deal.
matt minelli hasn't signed up. nick hasn't signed up. and besides those two, we'll still need a third owner to make 12. FYI. if we don't have 12, league is disbanded. then it will be a seriously long season...
i vote for keeper with 2 dynasty picks.
